Prof. Dr. Clemens Stachl receives with his team the best paper award from the German Society for Online Research!

Stachl and his international team of researchers were up against 18 other applications. The seven-member jury had a difficult choice to make. All papers made great contribution to research. In the end, however, the jury was particularly convinced by their use of innovative data collection and analysis methods to detect personality traits based on smartphone usage behavior. In their work, “the authors not only demonstrate the great potential of smartphone data for research, but also shed light on the dangers with regard to the violation of privacy and the potential misuse of psychological targeting,” said the chairman of the jury and vice chairman of the DGOF Prof. Dr. Florian Keusch.

The seven members of the 2021 DGF Best Paper Award Jury are: Assistant Research Prof. Christopher Antoun (University of Maryland), Prof. Dr. Nicola Doering (TU Ilmenau), Prof. Dr. Florian Keusch (University of Mannheim), Prof. Aigul Mavletova (National University Higher School of Economics, Russia), Dr. Henning Silber (GESIS Leibnitz Institute of Social Sciences), Assistant Prof. Dr. Bella Struminskaya (Utrecht University) and Dr. Cathleen M. Stützer (TU Dresden).

The DGOF Best Paper Award is endowed with 500 € and is sponsored this year by the Leibniz Institute of Psychology (ZPID).
